A Heart Does Not Turn Cold Unless It’s Been Treated with Coldness for a While
We do not become distant without reason. We do not build walls unless we have been left exposed too many times. When kindness meets neglect, again and again, the soul begins to retreat. The smile that used to come easily fades. The lightness in laughter dims. What is left is a heart guarded not out of bitterness, but out of survival.
But here is the thing: behind every cold heart is a story, often one filled with warmth, love, and trust that were chipped away little by little. It is easy to judge the change we see in someone, but harder to understand the journey that brought them there.
If you have felt your own heart growing cold, you are not alone. It does not mean you are broken. It means you have been weathered. And with the right care, even the coldest heart can thaw. With genuine kindness, consistent warmth, and safe spaces, healing happens. Slowly. Quietly. But it happens.
So, be mindful. Be gentle with others, and with yourself. Everyone you meet is carrying invisible seasons of their own.
